According to a study by the Swiss Energy Foundation (SES), electricity production has increased by 2.3 terawatt hours more than without the energy transition thanks to the Energy Strategy 2050. Only the promotion of renewable energy sources can strengthen security of supply.

The Energy Foundation announced this on Monday. If photovoltaic cells had been expanded even further, an additional nine terawatt hours could have been produced by 2025. Therefore, the Energy Strategy 2050 should be further promoted.

The foundation evaluated statistics on domestic electricity production from 2009 to 2021. It examined what Switzerland’s power supply would have looked like if the 2050 Energy Strategy had been rejected. (SDA)
