In a speech on the Day of the Sick at the Lindenhofspital in Bern, Federal President Alain Berset also acknowledged the efforts of family members and nurses.

Federal President Alain Berset called for joint action in a speech on the Day of the Sick on Sunday. A good relationship between the patient, the specialized staff and the next of kin is necessary.

Cooperation between everyone is crucial for high-quality healthcare and trust, the Minister of Health said in a speech on Swiss Radio and Television (SRF). “Anyone who is sick wants to be taken seriously. So are the relatives. They all need a listening ear and face-to-face meetings.”

Berset visited the hospital

The Federal Council wished everyone who is not doing well a speedy recovery. He also paid tribute to family members and experts who work for patients. Berset visited the tumor center of the Lindenhofspital in Bern on Sunday.

The Day of the Sick has been celebrated in Switzerland for over 80 years. Under the motto “Together on the road”, numerous events are scheduled this year, such as concerts, visits and gift campaigns in hospitals and sermons. (SDA)
