As in December, the small chamber on Tuesday passed an amendment to the heavy vehicle allowance law and a federal resolution on funding for the new system. The two municipalities have released CHF 515 million to adapt the LSVA collection system over the next ten years.
The LSVA is being modernized because the old collection system will technically expire in 2024. In addition, this system, which has only been approved for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, must be adapted to EU standards.
Specifically, a satellite-assisted procedure will also be used in the future for vehicles registered in Switzerland, as is already the case for foreign trucks. The federal government hopes that this will lead to shorter waiting and processing times. (SDA)
