Mass transit in the Federal Palace: On Thursday, all National Councilors were listed as State Councilors on the website of the Swiss parliament.
The reason was a technical malfunction, the parliamentary services announced via Twitter on Thursday afternoon. “An internal mistreatment caused this disruption”, it was said when asked: the biographies of the members of the National Council were assigned to the Council of States.
The joy of the misfortune was great. For example with the Aargau SP country councilor Gabriela Suter (50). She wants to stand for election to the Council of States next fall and skillfully used the accident for the election campaign. On Twitter, she wrote: “Parliamentary services have already tested today… 😀”
Judith Bellaiche (52), the GLP councilor of Zurich (52) welcomed the short-term change on the parliamentary services website. “And that’s before the election!” she noted.
Bellaiche was already excited about the fact that she can go to politics together with Min Li Marti (48) in the Committee on Legal Affairs, she wrote on Twitter. Because: SP People’s Councilor Marti was also briefly placed in the Council of States. Both already work together in the same committee in the National Council.
Error discovered early in the morning
However, the joy of decline in federal administration did not last long. After about an hour the problem was solved. According to the parliamentary services, the error was discovered early yesterday morning and corrected. “From then on National Councilors were referred to as National Councilors again in their short biographies.”
Searches took a little longer to resolve: When search results appeared on parlament.ch, national councilors were still referred to as councillors. This is because customizing the search indexes takes some time. After all, “It was a fun hour,” Bellaiche summed up. (Okay)
