Like the Council of States, the Committee for the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy of the National Council (Urek-N) argued for a substantial expansion of power stations for the generation of sustainable energy in 2040. This expansion must be achieved in the first place with the 15 projects that have been prioritized by the Round Table on Hydropower.

The interest in achieving it must always prevail over other interests of national importance, the parliamentary services announced on Thursday. However, a balancing of interests remains possible.

With a motion, the National Council Committee wants to ensure the implementation of these projects, even if no agreement can be reached about the amount of residual water. In return, compensatory measures must be taken to protect the landscape.
