The postmen demand at least 200 francs more wages per month. The rising prices have reduced the purchasing power of people in Switzerland, while health insurance premiums, electricity and heating have become more expensive. That is why the postmen demand full compensation for inflation plus a real wage increase from Swiss Post.
More than 8,400 postmen – almost a third of the Post-GAV staff – signed a petition to this effect, which was presented to the yellow giant at the start of the wage negotiations.
Broad representation for the head office
On Wednesday, the postmen repeated their demands at a meeting in Bern-Wankdorf in front of Swiss Post’s headquarters. Postmen, mailbox drivers, parcel deliverers, customer advisors from Swiss Post and PostFinance gathered at the head office. They hope to be heard by the Post chairman, the former trade unionist and former SP chairman Christian Levrat (52).
The postmen provide the basic service in Switzerland, they provide system-relevant services for companies and the population in Switzerland. This must be taken into account and taken care of.
For example, trade union Syndicom called on the Post not only to pay back inflation, but also to raise real and minimum wages. Swiss Post should make 4.4 percent of the wage bill available for wage increases. (pt)
