Ruth Humbel resigns as National Councillor

After 19 years on the Council, Ruth Humbel announces her resignation.

The end of the session is over: Ruth Humbel (65) then resigns from the National Council. This is reported by the “Aargauer Zeitung”. Humbel is one of the most experienced politicians in parliament and has been a member of the National Council since 2003. Before that, she politicized as a councilor in Aargau for 22 years. She is considered the party’s leading health politician. This week she will hold her last vote in the Council.

The winemaker Andreas Meier should move ahead of them. In the 2019 National Council elections, he finished first on the middle list, behind MPs Humbel and Marianne Binder (64). Meier will be able to benefit from the previous bonus in the upcoming 2023 elections.

Humbel accused her party of bullying

Meier resigned from the Grand Council of Aargau in the summer, at the same time announcing that he would move to the National Council – moving up for Humbel. However, she had not yet announced her resignation.

Humbel then made it clear in an interview that she was surprised by Meier’s announcement and that the way her party treated her was not okay. “It’s a pressure that could be described as bullying,” she said at the time. (you)
