The National Council will debate changes to the hunting law on Thursday aimed at controlling the country’s growing wolf population. Parliament wants to make regulations possible for both protected wolves and protected ibexes.
The cantons would be allowed to regulate wolves from September 1 to December 31, with the approval of the federal government. Shooting must prevent damage and danger, but must not endanger the population. A condition for shooting is also that protection of the herd is not possible or reasonable. (SDA)
