Who stumbles over the recent hearings?

Eva Herzog and Albert Rösti are considered favorites for the Federal Council election. But you can still stumble on the home track.

Who gets the Mandarinli, who gets the rod? Today’s Samichlaus Day should provide a preliminary decision in the Bundesrat race. In the afternoon, from 2.45 p.m., the last hearings of the groups are scheduled – and these can be decisive for those who pull away on the straight or stumble and are still overtaken.

It not only takes a lot of breath, but also nerves of steel. The SP candidates Eva Herzog (60, BS) and Elisabeth Baume-Schneider (58, JU) have to go to the FDP, Mitte and GLP. The SVP candidates Albert Rösti (55, BE) and Hans-Ueli Vogt (53, ZH) at SP, Mitte and Grünen.

Personal conversations

In the final sprint, every vote is competed for. The candidates used Tuesday morning for personal interviews here and there.

But the Gspänli also tries to mobilize the respective supporters for their darling. On Monday evening, a delegation from Basel with SP chairman Beat Jans (58), center council member Lukas Engelberger (47) and former SP council member Claude Janiak (74, BL) even visited the Federal Palace to argue for Eva Herzog.

The fever curve will rise sharply again during today’s hearings. Blick reports live from 2.30 pm. (Russian)
