President Ignazio Cassis announced the app at the Congress of the Swiss Abroad, which took place in Lugano in mid-August. The app is called “Swiss in touch”, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EDA) writes in a statement on Thursday.
The mobile app offers all Swiss nationals abroad flexible, fast and direct access to information from their representation. They can use the app to send messages directly to the Swiss Abroad community in their consular district.
It is also conceivable to publish announcements for specific groups. For example, young Swiss living abroad or senior citizens have access to messages that affect them personally. Anonymous surveys can also be conducted.
Registration is not required, but an account is required to access an additional module such as chat messages, polls or registration for specific events. The app is also needed to make appointments for consular services.
