The motion was written by alderman Eva Herzog (SP/BS). The Council debates on the rescue package for system-critical electricity companies have shown that the federal government’s transparency and room for maneuver with regard to these energy companies is not sufficient.
Herzog also recalled the “too big to fail” rules introduced after the financial crisis and the bank rescue. According to its response published on Thursday, the Bundesrat agreed with the motion.
