The federal government must pay a Syrian woman compensation of 12,000 francs. That has been decided by the Federal Administrative Court. The heavily pregnant woman did not receive medical help from the border guards in Brig US in July 2014, despite increasing contractions.
Despite the great pain, the Syrian was taken back by train to Domodossola in Italy with her husband and three children. The family actually wanted to go to Germany to apply for asylum.
The responsible border guard was later convicted of, among other things, assault. The family also demanded compensation and damages totaling nearly CHF 300,000.

However, the Federal Ministry of Finance rejected this. The family then referred the decision to the Federal Administrative Court. The judges in St. Gallen also reject the claim for compensation. According to the reasoning, the woman has suffered no material or financial damage in a legal sense.
On the other hand, the court gives her satisfaction, albeit significantly less than the woman had demanded.
