Switzerland has passed the new EU sanctions against Iran for supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Shahed Aviation Industries company and three high-ranking military personnel are affected.

According to the EU, you are involved in the development and delivery of combat drones to Russia. According to a statement from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) on Tuesday, Switzerland is now amending the regulation on measures related to the situation in Ukraine, following a decision by the Ministry of Economy. The updated sanctions list will go into effect on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Associated with Revolutionary Guards

Shahed Aviation Industries is a company affiliated with the air and space forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and responsible for the design and development of the Shahed series of Iranian drones, Seco said. These were supplied to Russia and would be used in the aggressive war against Ukraine, it is said.

Those involved are the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, as well as General Sayed Hojatollah Qureishi and Brigadier General Saeed Aghajani.

Qureishi is the department head of the Ministry of Defense responsible for negotiating the supply agreement with Russia. Aghajani is commander of the drone command of the air and space forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and, among other things, oversees the delivery of drones to Iran’s international allies.

Entry ban imposed

Entry bans apply to all three people. In addition, it is no longer possible to do business with them and any assets in Switzerland will be frozen.

Russia had recently attacked Ukraine several times using Shahed 136 combat drones from Iran. Iran denies supplying the drones to Russia. (SDA)
