Roberto Cirillo, CEO of the Post, presents the annual figures for 2023.

The decline in the volume of letters, parcels and payment transactions and the consequences of inflation had a significant impact on the financial result, the post office said in a statement. The result is in line with expectations given the challenging circumstances.

Already in 2022, the Post’s consolidated profit had collapsed by 157 million francs and still amounted to 295 million francs. At the time, the decline in profit was caused by the declining results of Postfinance and the decline in letter and parcel post.

To remain successful in the long term, Swiss Post needs the freedom to adapt to the needs of its customers and to further develop its services, the yellow giant said. (sf)
