Reis had previously appeared in public spaces with behavioral problems. The SVP politician also wrote repeatedly to his municipal council colleagues, who allegedly found his sometimes disturbing messages threatening. And he had defiled the mansion. On sick leave since September
Reis had been on 100 percent sick leave since September from his work on the city council, but had announced his intention to return to his office. He owes that to his voters. However, the municipal council was critical of the plans.
But now he is resigning, reports the “St. Galler Tagblatt». It refers to a statement from the city: “Romanshorn municipal councilor Dominik Reis is resigning with immediate effect for personal reasons. For health reasons he has not been able to use it for about six months.”
June 9, 2024 was set as the date for the replacement elections and September 22, 2024 for a possible second round of voting. Until the replacement elections, Mayor Roger Martin will continue to lead the Order and Safety department on an interim basis.
