The error occurred in the presidential department before the transaction in question reached the state chancellery, government spokesman Marco Greiner confirmed to the Keystone-SDA news agency on Wednesday a corresponding report from the ‘bz’.
In concrete terms, this concerns a now deleted 22-page appendix in the report ‘Assessment of coercive measures against adults and young people in the canton of Basel-Stadt’. The government is requesting 600,000 francs from the Grand Council for this project and published the expenditure report on the Grand Council’s website almost two weeks ago.
Basel wants to find those affected
However, in several places in the report’s appendix, those affected by “mandatory welfare measures” were identified by their full names. There are about 30 names. According to “bz”, the appendix is a database of the consulted sources of the state archives on the subject of mandatory welfare measures.
Preventing names from becoming public is now the “first priority,” Greiner said. The Presidential Department is working to locate the affected people, which may take longer. It must become clear, among other things, whether they are still alive or whether they still live in the canton of Basel-Stadt.
Public for six days
According to Greiner, the names of those affected were on the Grand Council’s website for six days. “The State Chancellery deeply regrets this matter and is working with the responsible presidential department to prevent any disadvantages for those affected.”
MPs have since been asked to destroy the printed version of the expenditure report sent to them. The names of those affected can no longer be found on the Grand Council’s website. (SDA)
