When asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency, neither the Swiss airline nor Zurich Airport could provide information about any restrictions and cancellations in air traffic. More detailed information is expected on Monday.

The Verdi union has called on Lufthansa ground crews to carry out another warning strike on Tuesday. The strike at Lufthansa locations in Frankfurt/Main, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne-Bonn and Stuttgart will start at 4 a.m. on Tuesday and end at 7.10 a.m. on Wednesday, Verdi announced in Berlin on Sunday.

With all ground crews, from maintenance to passenger and aircraft handling, being called for a warning strike, Verdi said there are likely to be major flight cancellations and delays. According to the information, different times apply for non-passenger areas such as freight or engineering.

According to the union, the background is the group-wide collective wage negotiations for the approximately 25,000 employees on site – including at Deutsche Lufthansa, Lufthansa Technik, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services, Lufthansa Engineering and Operational Services and other group companies.

No agreement was reached in the third round of negotiations on February 12, 2024. The employer’s offer from the previous round of negotiations was rejected by the vast majority of employees.
