On October 21, groups such as ‘Basel Nazifrei’ demonstrated in Basel against an announced meeting of opponents of corona measures, despite the demonstration ban.

Corona skeptics held a tri-national meeting in the tri-country area near Basel under the name “Demo for Peace, Freedom and Sovereignty”. The Basel event was initially approved. But due to the conflict in the Middle East, all demonstrations were eventually banned.

The police were present at the time with a large contingent and surrounded about 100 demonstrators at the Dreirosenanlage. Police and demonstrators played a cat-and-mouse game. Law enforcement repeatedly used rubber bullets. A water cannon from Zurich was also deployed in Basel.

The Basel police were supported by colleagues from five other cantons and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Protection. (SDA)
