Hundreds of thousands of people are taking to the streets in Germany against the right – like here in Frankfurt am Main.

Hundreds of thousands are taking to the streets in Germany against the right. Since mid-January, the ‘silent majority’ has been marching through city centers and demonstrating against right-wing extremism, racism and the AfD. And the demonstrations are getting longer. Last Saturday alone, 300,000 people protested.

Now the Young Greens want to jump on the bandwagon and bring the demonstrations to Switzerland. In a press release they announced a “spontaneous impartial demonstration against right-wing extremism” on Friday at Münsterplatz in Bern.

“Today, right-wing extremism and fascism are gaining strength again in Europe, in our neighboring countries Germany, France, Austria and Italy, but also in Switzerland,” explains co-party chair Magdalena Erni. Right-wing extremist groups such as Junge Tat spread hatred and incitement, the Young Party continues.

The SVP also gets its kicks: anyone who copies right-wing extremist positions and calls for mass deportations paves the way for inhumane ideas, the Young Greens criticize. “This is extremely dangerous.”
