Politically and entrepreneurially, he wants to work on the ‘urgently necessary transformation of the economy’, according to the message on Andrey’s website. CH Media and “Le Temps” first reported his rejection as a potential president of the Greens.

Andrey ran unsuccessfully for a Green Party seat in the Federal Council on December 13. The intensive weeks surrounding the elections were a great privilege to convey the party’s politics in his own way, he now summarized. As party chairman, this would still have been possible. But his most important political files would require a lot of energy and time.

The Freiburger’s decision comes just a few days after the announcement by Bernese National Councilor and parliamentary group leader Aline Trede, who also decided not to stand as a candidate. Lisa Mazzone from Geneva, who was elected to the Council of States in the last federal elections, has not yet commented on a possible candidacy.

The deadline to apply for the Green Party chairmanship is February 4. Delegates will elect the new president at their meeting on April 6.
