There is a kind of standstill agreement between the SP and its Zurich Council of States member Daniel Jositsch (58). Neither side is currently interested in escalating the dispute. But somehow the group and the parliamentarian aren’t really getting along at the moment. You avoid each other.
A year ago, we somehow brought ourselves together, the group said. At the time, the native Zuricher did not deter her from standing as a candidate to succeed the retiring Federal Councilor Simonetta Sommaruga (63), even though the SP leadership insisted on a successor.
persona non grata
But the Zurich resident’s failure to remove himself from the ballot race still made him persona non grata for last December’s Federal Council elections. It was clear to the vast majority of the SP faction that Jositsch was not wanted as successor to federal councilor Alain Berset (51). It was no surprise in Federal Bern that he did not end up on the ticket.
It suited the party that the mid-December Federal Council elections were quickly followed by the Christmas holidays, which politicians on both sides extended until the second week of January. The winter snow allowed the comrades’ heated minds to cool down.
You stay together…
It is clear from the group management that they expect Jositsch to talk to her. The Council of States seems to see this differently. “Since December 13, I have not had contact with anyone from the faction or the party leadership,” Jositsch explains when asked by CH Media.
According to the article, co-parliamentary faction leader Samira Marti (29) can currently be quoted as follows: “Daniel Jositsch is and remains a member of the SP faction, and we continue to work well together, also in the field of migration policy. ” And the Zurich Council of States in turn: “I am a member of the SP and currently see no reason to change anything.”
…because it is practical
It’s not close love anymore. But apparently the differences are not so great that a separation arises. And it may be that when it gets warmer, a second spring will become possible – even if it would already be the third. After the Sommaruga successor they became closer again.
Sometimes it’s just practical to stay together, regardless of whether you have much to say to each other or not. (pt)
