On Lake Geneva…,

Is it the last time? Alain Berset (51), private since Monday, is once again causing a stir on Instagram. On December 30 – a day early – the social media king among federal councilors left office with a Charlie Chaplin leap. The only thing missing was the walking stick for a perfect imitation of the legendary comedian. Even the hat that Berset is famous for was used.

The controversial “Au revoir” apparently found its fans – as some Instagram users returned the greeting and thanked the Freiburg resident, who served as Minister of Health, Social Affairs and Culture for twelve years, with their own short videos.

User n_o_u_r__e grabs a cap and heads towards the sea, with the comment “Entering 2024 like Alain”, user bra_rmr imitates Chaplin’s jump with an “Au revoir” in the snow, user david_gebara_achictecte does the same on the shore of Lake Geneva and user davidglen77 in a restaurant.

He also has many more followers

It is hardly conceivable that other Swiss politicians would cause such an echo – you have to admit that without envy towards Berset. However, the world only heard the reactions through Berset himself, who reported it in a story to his 143,000 followers. His fans all have only a few hundred followers.

Perhaps Berset is preparing for his next career – as an influencer or content creator. He has already started the first short-term trend. (sf)
