From January 2015, the current fixed rates for reimbursement of physiotherapy sessions will be replaced by a tiered system that is more dependent on the duration of a physiotherapy session. The Federal Council submitted this revised rate structure for consultation in mid-August.
According to the professional association Physioswiss, the new tariff model would lead to a “precarious deterioration of a catchment area that is already significantly underfunded”.
Submitted to EBS
In its complaint, the association demands that a monitoring procedure be opened against the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). The association submitted the complaint on Thursday to SP councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider (60) – EBS for short – who will head the Internal Affairs department from next year.
The question is whether federal collective bargaining intervention is appropriate. The Federal Council can only determine the rates for physiotherapy by regulation if the collective bargaining partners – health insurers and health associations – cannot agree.
Wishes from the cash registers
However, the BAG did not fulfill its obligation to inform health insurers of their negotiating obligation, according to Physioswiss. Instead, it unilaterally accepted the change requests from the health insurers. (SDA)
