The SVP is looking for a successor for Marco Chiesa (49). The incumbent party chairman wants to resign in March. ‘I had an assignment. And we succeeded,” says the Ticino resident.
The SVP search committee has already started its work, Chiesa said in an interview with CH Media and “Corriere del Ticino” published on Thursday. He was convinced that the time was right to resign as party chairman. “The purpose of my term was to win the elections and strengthen the politics and values of the SVP.” That was successful.
Third best result in history
Chiesa said his party won nine seats in October’s National Council elections, achieving the third best result in its history. “We still have potential in many places, but we are in a good position.”
After his term as party chairman, he will not disappear, said Chiesa, who was confirmed as a member of the Council of States of Ticino in November. “I will open new chapters in my life.” He also has a trust company and has established a foundation that manages daycare centers.
