But the threat continues to increase: no evidence of terrorist attacks in Switzerland

The Federal Intelligence Service (NDB) continues to assess the terrorist threat in Switzerland as “increased”.

Against the background of possible attack plans, German authorities have increased security measures around Cologne Cathedral. Stricter security measures also apply in Vienna on Christmas Eve.

For Switzerland, the assessment of the increased terrorist threat has not changed, the NDB said on Sunday. According to the NDB, Switzerland is one of the Western world that jihadists classify as Islamophobic and is therefore, from their perspective, a legitimate target for terrorist attacks.

However, according to the NDB’s assessment, other states are more exposed, especially those that participate militarily in international coalitions against the ‘Islamic State’ or that are seen as particularly Islamophobic by jihadist-inspired people. (SDA)
