With 129 votes to 65, the National Council said yes to changes to the Aliens and Integration Act (AIG) on Tuesday. In the future, he wants to guarantee toughness in cases of domestic violence and regulate the residence of victims in Switzerland.

The template was prepared by the State Political Committee of the National Council (SPK-N). According to spokeswoman Samira Marti (SP/BL), the majority notes that victims of violence often stay in their relationship in order not to lose their residence permit.

The SVP did not want to respond to the proposal, but was defeated in its application. Because all other parliamentary groups, as well as the Federal Council, supported in principle the proposed changes to the AIG.

The proposal goes to the Council of States. (SDA)
