In just under two weeks, 131 signatures have been collected from voting residents of Steckborn, according to the initiators. Mayor Roland Toleti (independent) confirmed receipt of the request to the Keystone-SDA news agency.
According to the municipal regulations of the city with approximately 4,000 inhabitants, 100 voters can submit a topic at an extraordinary municipal meeting. There, the termination of the contract between the municipality and the SEM will be voted on and the asylum accommodation with approximately 200 places will be closed.
Parts of the population are opposed to the reception of refugees in the city. Safety has suffered enormously. The cantonal police and the mayor disagree. (SDA)
