The heavy vehicle performance tax (LSVA) will be adjusted to inflation at the beginning of 2025, according to Wednesday’s announcement. The rates, which have remained unchanged since 2012, would therefore be increased by 5 percent.
The Federal Council also wants to create the legal basis for additionally financed freight transport by rail on routes of up to 600 kilometers. At the same time, compensation for long-distance offers will be reduced in the coming years.
In addition, the federal government will refrain from increasing the price of traction electricity for freight transport until early 2024, as planned. The price remains at 12 cents per kilowatt hour. This will reduce the burden on freight transport by approximately 10 million francs per year, as announced by the Federal Council. (SDA)
