Four measuring systems in the city of Bern have been affected, the cantonal police of Bern announced on Monday. The affected people will be informed by letter in the coming days and the approximately 6,000 fines already paid will be refunded.

The incorrectly programmed devices are a new generation of measuring systems with loop technology. The devices have been tested and approved by the Federal Institute of Metrology (Metas). Only the four systems in Bern were in use throughout Switzerland. The systems were shut down on October 19, the report said.

The exact locations of the affected systems in the city of Bern are:

  • Kirchenfeldstrasse/Mottastrasse, towards Monbijou Bridge
  • Papiermühlestrasse/Aargauerstalden, direction Bärengraben
  • Kirchenfeldstrasse/Jubiläumsplatz, direction Thunplatz
  • Zieglerstraße/Effingerstraße, towards Eigerplatz

When the lightning errors have been corrected, the police will put the devices back into use. (SDA)
