Local mood: Ebikoners don’t want to know about the tax increase

class=”sc-cffd1e67-0 fmXrkB”>

The municipality of Ebikon will not increase its tax rate from 2024.

As the municipality announced, the budget was rejected with a negative vote of 59.7 percent (1,808 against 1,221 votes). Voter turnout in the elections was 34 percent.

Despite the tax increase, the proposed budget provided for a deficit of 2.98 million francs. The budgeted income amounted to 129.51 million francs, the expenditure 132.49 million francs.

However, the outsourcing of the Hochweid retirement and nursing home and the establishment of a non-profit stock company were approved with a yes vote of 65.0 percent (1949 to 1047 votes). The advantage of the renovation is that the upcoming investments in the retirement home will not put pressure on the scarce municipal finances. Because the municipality becomes the majority shareholder, it can continue to influence the institution. (SDA)
