ZH: GLP-Moser ahead in projections
In the canton of Zurich, the second seat of the Council of States will probably go to Tiana Angelina Moser of the GLP. This is evident from an extrapolation by the Statistical Office of the Canton of Zurich. Accordingly, Moser should get more than 200,000 votes, Gregor Rutz gets 156,000 votes. This is an extrapolation. In the interim results for 113 of the 175 communities, Rutz is still just ahead. But the big cities are still missing.
AG: Binder is ahead
The first communities have already been counted in the canton of Aargau, reports the “Aargauer Zeitung”. Marianne Binder (center) currently has about 4,000 votes ahead of Benjamin Giezendanner (SVP). 109 of the 198 communities have been counted. Official interim results from the canton will be available from 12 noon.
SO: Will the SVP make the premiere?
In the canton of Solothurn, the SVP – with councilor Christian Imark (41) – wants to win a seat in the Council of States for the first time. Landraad Franziska Roth (57) should defend her current seat for the SP. In the first round of voting, State Councilor Pirmin Bischof (64, center) was confirmed.
TI: SVP president must go to the second round
In the canton of Ticino, both seats of the Council of States are still up for grabs. After a good performance in the first round of voting, current Ticino State Councilor Marco Chiesa (49, SVP) seems ready for the small chamber. In the battle for the second seat, Fabio Regazzi (61, center) and Alex Farinelli (41, FDP) are likely to have an exciting head-to-head race. The left hopes for a surprising success for Green Party Greta Gysin (40).
AG: The cards have been reshuffled
In the canton of Aargau, voters decide on a civil duel for the vacant seat in the Council of States: the outcome of the race between centrist national councilor Marianne Binder-Keller (65) and SVP national councilor Benjamin Giezendanner (41) is open.
In the first round of voting, Giezendanner came first among the unelected. Binder-Keller ended up behind SP state councilor Gabriela Suter (50). But for the second election the cards were shuffled again: SP, Greens, GLP and EVP withdrew their candidates. In the first voting round, FDP State Council and party chairman Thierry Burkart (48) was clearly confirmed.
SH: Less should vibrate
The independent state councilor Thomas Minder (62) has been in the small chamber for the canton of Schaffhausen since 2011. Now he has to worry about his re-election. Former SP municipal councilor of Schaffhausen Simon Stocker (42) makes life difficult for Minder and even won more votes in the first voting round. Hannes Germann (67) was re-elected in the first round.
ZH: Waiting for the results
A duel takes place in the canton of Zurich between Gregor Rutz (51, SVP) and Tiana Angelina Moser (44, GLP). An exciting race is expected. Who can mobilize better?
The results of the second round of voting will be announced today at the Walcheturm in Zurich. The first projections should be ready shortly after the polls close, and the final results should be available between 4 and 5 p.m.
SP state councilor Daniel Jositsch (58) was confirmed as president in the first round of voting.
The 2nd vote in five cantons
This Sunday, the second rounds of elections for the Council of States will take place in the cantons of Aargau, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, Ticino and Zurich. An exciting race is expected in the canton of Zurich, among other places.
The first results are expected from 12 noon.
Mitte defended his seats in the Council of States
The Center is currently the only party that has defended the seats it won in the last elections in the Council of States. The last six seats in the Council of States will be allocated next Sunday.
40 of the 46 seats in the Council of States have now been filled. It is already clear that the center has successfully defended the thirteen seats it won in the elections four years ago. She even has a chance to expand her representation in the Council of States: in the canton of Aargau and the canton of Ticino she will stand as a candidate for the second round of voting in a week.
Poggia and Sommaruga elected in Geneva – Greens lose seat
Now it is official: the Greens of Geneva will lose their seat in the small chamber. Previous State Councilor Lisa Mazzone finished in third place. Mauro Poggia of the Mouvement Citoyens Genevois (MCG) was elected. Social Democrat Carlo Sommaruga achieved the second best result and was re-elected.
There are still six seats to be allocated in the Council of States, then the new parliament will be complete. Things will be exciting again in the second round. This is the starting position:
