She does not support too many positions of the GLP, Judith Schenk further wrote. She is now becoming politicized in the SP with immediate effect. Barbara Keller, leader of the SP faction in the Bern city council, confirmed the change at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.
The GLP faction regrets that it will lose a seat as a result and will therefore no longer be represented to its strength in the Bern municipal council according to the 2020 municipal elections, the co-faction chairman writes. Schenk is aware of this and it is not ‘cool’. However, the decision was a long process, she added on X.
The change had long been considered and was well justified politically, Keller said. She does not see the seat shift as a problem, because it does not take place immediately after the elections.
Schenk ended up in the GLP’s first replacement position at the last municipal elections in 2020. In the summer of 2021 she was able to move on due to a vacancy. That is why she politicized for the GLP in the city council for about two years.
