This is a step in the wrong direction: Justice Minister Elisabeth Baume-Schneider (59) is “not the brightest candle on the cake,” GLP boss Jürg Grossen (54) insults the SP federal councilor in a “Nebelspalter” podcast .
The statement came as Grossen discussed shortcomings in asylum policy with journalists. When they intervened, he even said he could say that in this podcast – alluding to the newspaper’s political views.
Dissatisfied with asylum policy
The next day everything is different. Grossen apologized to BärnToday for his verbal derailment. He did not mean Baume-Schneider as a person, but rather her asylum policy, with which he was dissatisfied. He regrets not correcting his statement on the show. “This is a mistake, I want to clearly admit it and take it back.”
He also explains his failure by saying he was under pressure after Sunday’s election defeat. “At a certain point you get a little tired and you no longer check every sentence properly.” In any case, he wanted to personally apologize to Baume-Schneider.
