The light show “Rendez-vous Bundesplatz” starts on Saturday. Safety measures have now been tightened.

The season starts again on Saturday with the popular light show “Rendez-vous Bundesplatz”. Hundreds of spectators pass by every time. After the terrorist attack in Brussels on two Swedish football fans, the city of Bern is now increasing security measures for the Bundesplatz. “Given the current situation, additional measures have been taken,” safety director Reto Nause (52) told “BernToday”. Nause did not provide further information for tactical reasons.

The terrorist attacks – there was an attack in Arras, France, outside Brussels – are also on the radar of the Federal Intelligence Service (NDB). “The attack in Brussels confirms the NDB’s current assessment of the terrorist threat.” The most plausible terrorist scenario for Switzerland today is an act of violence committed by a lone perpetrator, inspired by jihadism.
