Nothing happened except the costs. Shortly before the elections, the election campaign is in full swing. The candidates are leaving no stone unturned in the race for attention and votes. But: Sometimes an action can go wrong.
Candidate Luca Kronig (22) had to find that out the hard way. The Zermatt resident wants to take a seat on the National Council for the young middle class of Upper Valais.
A week ago Monday he posted 370 postcards at the post office in Zermatt. There is a photo of him on the front, and a handwritten text on the back: “Dini Stimme zellt! Thank you». His job for the yellow giant: franking and delivering to the recipient. The Zermatt post office charged Kronig 425.50 francs for this. This is reported by the “Walliser Bote”.
Invoice to recipient
The first responses came in two days later, on Wednesday. And they had it all. Kronig’s card has reached its recipients. However, this also includes the following information: “Missing postage.” Finally, as the “Walliser Bote” writes, the real hammer came for Kronig.
Also, 170 recipients of the post office’s election advertising received a 90 cent bill. The message: “You will receive this card as the recipient of one or more insufficiently stamped shipments according to the details below. We are writing to you because the sender was not visible on the shipment.” The remaining 200 invoices could have been stopped in time after intervention at the post office, it continues.
Kronig speaks of an accident
Those who have the damage don’t have to worry about the spot. Kronig subsequently faced criticism and malice, although he is confident the mistake did not happen to him. “I have to hear again and again that I cannot frank the cards correctly,” he says in the article. He speaks of an accident.
Kronig paid the bill. Nevertheless, he asked the Postal Service to apologize in writing to all recipients. On
Post confirms the incident
He demands that the postal service responds professionally to errors. Bregy writes: “Mistakes are no big deal, they just happen sometimes, but this young Youth Center candidate deserves a clear explanation that the mistake is not his.”
As if the Post had heard Bregy’s request, it confirmed the incident on Tuesday when asked by Blick. The media agency says: “Our employees do their best every day. But we are not perfect either.” The post office actually made a mistake with the affected customer. “We are very sorry. That absolutely does not meet our expectations of ourselves.”
Luca Kronig delivered the postcards to the branch, the mail continued. These were wrongly delivered by the post office without shipping costs. The process determines that recipients will automatically receive an invoice in such cases. The recipients would be informed that they obviously do not have to pay the contribution. (oko)
