From the summer of 2024, the addicts of the open drug scene in Chur will have a consumption area with a contact and contact point at Sägenstrasse 75. This begins a three-year pilot phase. The city is now “extremely concerned” about the drug scene.
Until the summer, the building on Sägenstrasse housed a cultural center. This tenant has already received a notice of termination at the end of September 2023. The building has now been evacuated, city councilor Patrik Degiacomi told the media in Chur on Thursday.
The situation of the open scene in Chur is worrying. In the past, heroin was mainly consumed. Nowadays, cocaine is smoked or injected. As a result, those affected become more agitated and aggressive.
A consumption area with an associated contact person and point of contact is therefore no longer necessary. “Chur stopped halfway through,” Degiacomi continued. With this offer, the authorities hope to significantly curb the drama in public spaces. This has already worked in other Swiss cities. (SDA)
