About 34 percent of the candidates are women, according to an analysis by the Keystone-SDA news agency based on data from the Federal Statistical Office (BFS). Aargau with 70 percent and Freiburg with 57 percent have the highest share of women in the cantons.

When it comes to parties, the Greens have the highest percentage of female candidates, at 13 out of a total of 21 candidates. More than half of the women also have the SP. There are as many women as men participating in the GLP.

The FDP has about 30 percent women among its candidates and about 29 percent in the middle. The SVP is 9.5 percent. The SP and FDP have a significantly higher share of women than in 2019. There are fewer women running for office for the SVP, the Greens, the GLP and the Center.
