According to the construction and housing statistics published by the BFS on Tuesday, 40 percent of apartments were heated with fuel oil and 25 percent with gas in the reporting year.
According to the BFS, the share of buildings with heat pumps was 19 percent and has quadrupled since the turn of the millennium. In 2022, the share of homes built in the past ten years was three-quarters.
23 percent of single-family homes had a heat pump, while only twelve percent of buildings with more than ten apartments had one. Twelve percent of the buildings were heated with wood and eight percent with electricity, the BFS continues.
The share of heat pumps was highest at 34 percent in the canton of Friborg, which has the youngest building stock. In the canton of Basel-Stadt with the oldest buildings, the share of heat pumps was only four percent. (SDA)
