Overall, 20 percent of councilors have a profile on all of these popular social media platforms, Zurich-based marketing agency Flin announced on Wednesday. Facebook remains the social medium most used by councillors. 92 percent of councilors had a Facebook profile and 87 percent would have published messages on it by 2023.
On the other hand, only twelve percent of councilors have an active presence on YouTube, the second most used platform for Swiss people, the statement said.
Till now, Tiktok is little used. Only one in four councilors had a profile and only 9 percent regularly maintained it, the marketing agency said. It was striking that the parties managed the different platforms with different degrees of intensity.
The analysis also found that five members of the National Council were completely absent from social media during the reporting period.
The research was based on that of the 200 National Councilors who stood for re-election in July 2023 or who applied for the Council of States in October. (SDA)
