On Wednesday, he approved the new regulation on quotas for European films and investments in Swiss film production (FQIV).

The Federal Council has made exceptions for small and medium-sized companies. He also did the same for companies for which compliance with the quota or investment obligation is unreasonable or disproportionate.

There is a minimum turnover threshold of CHF 2.5 million per year. Those who screen no more than twelve long-running meritorious films per year are also exempt.

In May 2022, the people clearly said yes to the revised film law, the so-called ‘Lex Netflix’. The young parties of the FDP, SVP and GLP, on the other hand, held the referendum.
