The exact times differ from region to region, according to a statement from the union on Friday. However, it was initially unclear whether the strike would have far-reaching consequences and lead to passenger restrictions. Passengers are asked to inform themselves about connections.

The union spoke of a “difficult strike” in their eyes. Due to the short duration of the strike, the impact may not be too great. Moreover, it can be foreseen in advance that no strikes will take place in larger cities such as Venice, Pisa, Siena or Bolzano in South Tyrol. It is not clear how many employees will actually respond to the call.

The SBB already warned on Thursday about the consequences of the strike. They advised travelers via Twitter to contact affected railways directly. They couldn’t adjust their own online schedule because outages were announced too soon, they wrote.

In mid-July, major strikes in Italy led to severe rail and air traffic restrictions. First, the employees of the state railway company Trenitalia and the employees of the private competitor Italo went on strike. A few days later, there was a strike in air traffic, which led to numerous flight cancellations and delays.
