When meeting with Foreign Minister Cassis, the first thing to do is to take stock of talks between Switzerland and the EU, Sefcovic said on the sidelines of a media conference on the topic of joint gas procurement in the EU at the request of the Keystone – SDA news agency.

The EU is aware of the federal elections at the end of October, the vice president said. “We respect that.” He therefore wants to talk about a post-election timetable, Sefcovic continued.

The EU Vice-President wants to “increase the chances and possibility of a successful outcome of the negotiations”. According to Sefcovic, this would be the “best possible news for the EU and Switzerland”.
