VVD MP Tellegen leaves the House of Representatives permanently because of burnout

VVD member Ockje Tellegen finally leaves the House of Representatives because of a burnout. The member of the Bundestag has been at home ill since February and has now informed Chamber President Vera Bergkamp in a letter that she will not be returning.

Tellegen says on Twitter that the decision is difficult for her, but that she has no other choice. She states that she is better now, but the symptoms have not gone away and she has only a fraction of the energy she used to have.

“overexploitation”

Many politicians have become ill in recent years due to overload. Party leader Esther Ouwehand of the Party for the Animals announced on Tuesday that she would be absent for the coming months. She’s overloaded.

Ouwehand previously had a burnout. Health Minister Bruno Bruins collapsed at the start of the Corona crisis while speaking in the House of Representatives. And last year MP Pieter Omtzigt stayed at home tense for months.

Tellegen, who was in the house for eleven years and was, among other things, deputy chairman of the house, describes the chamber work as top-class sport. Like Ouwehand earlier this week, she talks about the danger of being “robbed” of oneself.
