After the resignation of Alain Berset, the Green Liberals claim one of the two SP seats in the Bundesrat, depending on the outcome of the elections. They also found words of thanks. The FDP tweeted that they have taken note of the resignation. The young SVP spoke of a “good day”.
Immediately after Berset’s resignation statement, the Green Liberal Party (GLP) announced on Wednesday that the result of the October 22 elections would be decisive for the future composition of the Federal Council.
SP overrepresented in the Bundesrat
The SP is currently over-represented in the Bundesrat. If she cannot increase her share of the vote accordingly, she will have to give up a seat. The GLP wants to claim this seat if it manages to get ten percent of the vote and return to the Council of States, as announced.
In addition, GLP President and National Councilor Jürg Grossen (BE) expressed gratitude and wrote on Twitter: “Thank you so much Alain Berset for the tireless commitment to our country over the past 12 years and especially for the leadership in the corona crisis. .”
“We thank him for his commitment to Switzerland,” the liberals said on Wednesday. In the interior department, however, Berset left behind numerous construction sites, especially in the care and pension sector. The FDP expects the successor to meet these challenges with determination.
“A great statesman,” he said
The center thanked the outgoing Federal President and drew up a profile of requirements for his successor. She expects the potential successors to abide by the rules of collegiality and actively participate in the functioning of the Federal Council, she said.
Berset’s party colleague and National Councilor Fabian Molina (ZH) stated that the outgoing Federal Councilor had served the country in good times and bad with dedication, competence and mischievousness, defending social Switzerland. With his resignation, “a great statesman” is leaving.
“Thanks. Thanks. Grazie,” SP co-chair Cédric Wermuth tweeted. Co-chair and national councilor Mattea Meyer (ZH) wrote that Berset had “politicized for the people” with help from Covid, improvements in additional services, the fight against excessive drug prices and more Other SP representatives in the federal parliament agreed.
No thanks from the right
The young SVP found no words of thanks or praise. Wednesday was a “good day for personal freedom” in the country, she wrote on Twitter. Representing the boys, the fledgling Berset party “will not forgive its disproportionate Covid restrictions”.
The critics of “Mass-Voll”, who failed the vote on the Covid 19 law on Sunday, also welcomed the resignation in a communiqué: “In the history of Switzerland, no one has done more harm to the country and the people.” In addition, the movement uttered verbal insults. (SDA/sq)
