Ironically, on the day of the women’s strike: (Ham) ordinary people to the stove!

SVP National Councilor Lars Guggisberg (right) and FDP Council colleague Marcel Dobler once tried their hand at the McDonald’s kitchen – and are quite pleased with themselves.

That must have been a bitter evening for the FC Nationalrat against the football team of the fast food giant McDonald’s. “I forgot the result,” says team captain and SVP land councilor Lars Guggisberg (45) with a laugh. In any case, he and his teammate and FDP National Councilor Marcel Dobler (42) want nothing to do with a lost bet.

In the margins of the game, they were invited to prepare hamburgers for lunch in a Bernese branch. “Lars and I immediately said yes,” says Dobler. Ironically, the lords of creation were at the stove on the day of the women’s strike.

Impressed with efficiency

They prepared a burger for each other – the formidable “Guggisburger” and the unique “McDobler”. The two describe it with mischief — and there’s a hint of pride, too.

The two particularly noticed the sophisticated processes in the kitchen of the fast food giant and the teamwork of the employees. “We were impressed with the efficiency of the processes,” says Dobler. The two National Councilors of Parliament probably know less about this.

Now that they’ve been able to learn a thing or two from the burger joint, they might do better next time on the field against the McDonald’s football team. (dba)
