The Federal Council creates three electric sedans. They go to Viola Amherd (61, center), Albert Rösti (55, SVP) and Guy Parmelin (63, SVP). In the future they will be driven around with a BMW i7.
The Ministry of Defense (DDPS) only purchases fully electrically powered vehicles for the departments, the DDPS reports. This measure was decided in the context of the climate package of the Federal Council for the Federal Administration.
Baume-Schneider relies on a bus
These chauffeured limousines are purchased by the Federal Armaments Agency (Armasuisse) as the central purchasing agency belonging to the DDPS. How much the new cars will cost taxpayers is not disclosed. According to the Ministry of Defense, the other members of the Federal Council should also receive electrically powered representation vehicles in the coming years.
Minister of Justice Elisabeth Baume-Schneider (59, SP) also wants to say goodbye to the combustion engine. “She plans to purchase an electric car as both a company car and a private car,” spokesman Nicolas Hehl told Blick at the beginning of this year. She wants to get a minibus as a company car so that the Federal Councilor and her employees can work while driving.
