The dispute between the councils about the planned construction of container villages for the reception of asylum seekers will be addressed at the unification conference. The National Council urged on Wednesday to make CHF 66.45 million available for this.
With 95 votes in favour, 93 against and two abstentions, the National Council simply stuck to its previous resolution.
The National Council initially wanted 133 million
At the start of the summer session, the Grand Chamber initially approved the CHF 132.9 million requested by the Federal Council, while the Council of States rejected the loan. The following week, the grand chamber cut the loan in half as part of a compromise. However, the Council of States rejected the proposal on Tuesday.
Even if the reunification conference still has to deal with the matter, the Council of States has the upper hand: if a council rejects the proposal of the reunification conference for budget proposals, the decision that provides for less expenditure applies. (SDA)
