Now the 14 members of the parliamentary commission of inquiry to investigate the collapse of CS – or rather whether it could have been prevented and whether the Bundesrat and the authorities did everything right – have been determined. There are seven national and seven state councilors from all parties. Blick presents the 14 CS reconnaissance aircraft.
Thomas matter
As the owner of a private bank in Zurich, the 57-year-old SVP national councilor undoubtedly has banking knowledge. But also a proximity to the financial center. However, he has not made too many claims in his sentence. He sits on the Economic Commission responsible for banking regulation.
Alfred army
Like the Green Mayan Tomb, the SVP National Council of Zurich has extensive experience in overseeing the Federal Council and administration. The 61-year-old has earned a reputation as an unyielding enlightener on the audit committee. And he is a critic of the financial regulator Finma.
Werner Saltmann
If there is no shortage of one profession in the Federal Parliament, it is farmers. The Bernese SVP member of the Council of States and colonel has mainly made a name for himself in parliament as a security politician. It remains to be seen whether the 60-year-old’s expertise, as a former chair of the agricultural working group of the PUK’s Swiss tax conference, will help.
Roger Nordmann
The resident of Vaud gave up the party chairmanship of the SP to take a seat in the PUK. The 50-year-old Nordmann is neither a litigator nor a banking expert, but the strategic qualities of the National Council are beyond question. In addition, he is not afraid to offend anyone.
Daniel Jositz
The Council of States of Zurich is actually a criminal lawyer, but his legal skills are recognized beyond all party lines. And Jositsch has repeatedly proven that he has a mind of his own. As president of KV Switzerland, the 58-year-old has a connection with employees in the banking sector.
Andrea Caroni
The 43-year-old Ausserrhoden Council of States asks the same question as all other FDP members: how critical can it be of FDP Finance Minister Keller-Sutter? In addition, during the UBS rescue, the lawyer was only a personal assistant to the FDP Finance Minister Hans-Rudolf Merz (80). Maybe a little too close to the finance department.
Philip Bauer
The Council of States of Neuchâtel FDP is considered to be honest and is also well equipped as a lawyer. However, the 61-year-old is already at the head of the GPK task force that investigates the leaks of Alain Berset’s (51) office staff during the Corona period. One wonders how much time the lawyer can devote to the PUK.
Daniela Schneeberger
The first thing the 55-year-old FDP national councilor from Basel did after her PUK appointment was to distance herself from banking lobbyists with whom she associates. But: as a trustee and member of the Economic Commission, she brings her specialist knowledge that can be useful to the PUK.
Heidi Zgraggen
As a member of the government council, the political scientist led the Uri Department of Justice for 15 years. The 57-year-old is therefore familiar with the work of an executive, which can be an advantage, but also a problem: the PUK should not show too much understanding to the Federal Council. But Z’graggen gives the impression of being tame.
Leo Muller
The 64-year-old lawyer is a quiet worker – but if a subject is important to him, he also has bite. The Central National Council of Lucerne is considered a serious value in the PUK. The chairman of the Economic Commission does not want to present the PUK, but wants to help think about how the forced takeover of CS by UBS could have come about.
Isabelle Hassot
The former Freiburg government councilor and current middle state councilor is also admitted to the bar. Her extensive experience at the federal and cantonal level – the 58-year-old was also director of the Federal Service for Culture – makes her an expert in administration.
Maya Grave
The 61-year-old member of the Council of States from the Basel area cannot be said to have an affinity with financial issues. But she was there when the current banking regulations were made. She also has experience in overseeing the Federal Council and administration. Graf has been a member of the audit committee since 2011 and currently chairs the audit delegation that oversees the intelligence community.
Franziska Ryser
The Green St. Gallen National Councilor is a member of the Economic Commission. As a mechanical engineer, the 31-year-old has no in-depth knowledge of the industry, but is also not connected to the banking sector. She seems interested in the subject: she recently submitted a proposal for sustainable state guarantees for banks.
Roland Fisher
Roland Fischer, the current GLP councilman, was once chief of financial statistics at the Federal Finance Administration. The 58-year-old is also active as a member of the National Council, mainly on financial issues. In addition – and this does not speak for his independence – Fischer was an employee of Credit Suisse, but that was a long time ago.
