That desire is especially strong among people from European countries that do not belong to the EU, according to statistics published by “Demos” on Monday. The data on migration collected since 1998 has been supplemented with the reference year 2021.
Because of work and family
The main reasons to emigrate to Switzerland are family and work, according to the statistics. Men more often give their job as the reason and women more often give their family. For people from the EU and EFTA countries work is often the reason, for other groups of countries family reunification is the main reason.
Career and family are also reasons to emigrate from Switzerland. Retirement has become a more important reason for emigration. (SDA)
