The federal government is providing CHF 1 billion for cultural funding from 2025 to 2028.

The cultural sector must become more sustainable, digital and socially just. On Friday, the Federal Council sent the message on cultural promotion from 2025 for consultation. This will last until September 22 this year.

The design was created with the involvement of the cantons, cities and municipalities, as well as the cultural associations of all sectors.

One billion francs for execution

In order to implement the goals accordingly, the state government is promising over a billion francs for the years 2025 to 2028. The funding should focus on digital transformation, working conditions, sustainability or more collaboration. The Federal Office of Culture (FOC), Pro Helvetia and the Swiss National Museum remain responsible for the distribution of the funds.

Due to the Covid crisis, cultural production in Switzerland is under great pressure. According to the Federal Council, the pandemic also exposed certain system weaknesses, such as the precarious social security of many cultural workers. (SDA/oco)
